Yes, this tiny puppy certainly does work as advertised. Just wet the sponge, turn the unit on, and point the air stream at your face.
Ahhhhhh...
The Handy Cooler appears to be well built. The fan is incredibly quiet. You can put the unit on a desk or tabletop, and it will blow a nice stream of cool air at you.
I like the way you can rotate the air head ninety degrees, giving you higher flexibility in positioning the unit. I also like the little water bottle they give you, which holds two "recharges". Yes, they have figured out how significantly water you can add to preserve cool without having water dribbling from the unit. They figure you can go from thirty minutes to three hours on a "full" sponge, based on your environment.
I have told the organization that makes the Handy Cooler that they have to have to introduce a shoulder holster, so you can put on it about and use it hands-100 % free. In the meantime, I am going to see if I can rig up some sort of shoulder sling or one thing that will suit this goal.
At any rate, if you hate the heat, the Handy Cooler is the true deal -- cool relief to go. Extremely suggested.
My only gripe, as a different buyer commented, is the high UPS shipping charge. A lower-cost USPS shipping alternative would be welcome...
And yes, I use NiMH rechargeable batteries, and they last for hours on a charge. Ahhhh...

We knew we were in trouble bringing an infant to Disney World and Miami Beach. We knew we had to hold her cool in the Florida heat or our holiday was over.
We bought x2 infant kits (mesh bag holder, flexible tube, HCs). We employed two handy coolers and baby kits the first day at DW but the batteries lasted for five hours on the first day and we only had x8(ENELOOPs). So we decided to run only one particular at a time and swap out batteries for a total of ten hours run time on high. The sponge is a hassle to take away out of the mesh bag and wet it and then put back while consistently moving with our pack. With the heat the sponge dries in less than an hour. So we added a Frozen water bottle on leading of the sponge that continuously wets the sponge and it melts and gives off honestly cold air from the melting bottle. When its melted we just drink it and replace it with a new frozen 1 from the ice cooler. This set up worked actually good for out two week trip in Disney World and South Florida. Stunning product!
